The Hardin County booth at the 2007 Kentucky State Fair focused on Abraham Lincoln's connections to this area. The event took place in the South Wing of the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center in Louisville. Spearheaded and funded by the Radcliff/Fort Knox and Convention Commission and the Elizabethtown Convention and Tourism Bureau, Hardin County's 10 x 40 booth was the largest in the "Pride of the Counties" area. The exhibit featured Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln impersonators Larry and Mary Elliott. The two engaged and entertained the crowd, both young and old alike. The Patton Museum of Cavalry and Armor displayed a half-track military vehicle and Swope's Cars of Yesteryear Museum highlighted a pristine 1936 Packard. Two glass-enclosed display cases were filled with historic "Lincoln" artifacts from the Patton Museum, Schmidt's Coca Cola Museum and the Hardin County History Museum.

"I Too Am a Kentuckian" produced by the Hardin County Educational and Community Television in cooperation with the Hardin County History Museum played continuously. The tape highlights family, friends and associates from Hardin County who influenced Abraham Lincoln's personal development. Joni Perry of Louisville won the "colossal" give-away basket valued at approximately $500. It was filled with treasures donated by the Reserve Officers and Training Course (ROTC) on Fort Knox, United States Army Recruiting Command, the Radcliff/Fort Knox Convention and Tourism Commission and the Elizabethtown Convention and Visitor's Bureau.

The great folks at United States Army Recruiting Command also provided us with thousands of "Army of One" giveaway items. Needless to say, they were a "big" hit and did not last long. Most important was the 60 volunteers from across the County that staffed the booth during the 11-day event. These individuals greeted visitors of the booth with enthusiasm and a smile. We have the "best volunteers in the world" and we appreciate them so much.
Thanks to everyone that helped us "put the spotlight" on Hardin County. Because of you, our exhibit was a rousing success!
